One year ago these pictures were taken on our first Valentine’s Day Date which occurred just after I nearly missed my connecting flight in Dallas...keep reading. ♥️ I was coming home after a radio interview in Tampa, and unfortunately had such a short layover that I was forced to full out run to my originally scheduled gate. I got there just in time only to have the flight attendant tell me my flight had been changed. Right after she tells me this, a perfectly timed message comes across the airport intercom, “Last call for the last flight of the night to Little Rock, Arkansas.” I stared at the flight attendant as fear and tears filled my eyes. I just knew she was going to tell me she couldn’t do anything about it. But, instead, she stared back for a second, looked me up and down (I’m wearing the dress in this photo with 6 inch heels) and then says, “Do you have an important Valentine’s Date?” I nodded. And she said, “Run.” Without hesitation I grabbed my suitcase and began to sprint (it was almost half a mile or a little more to the right gate). As I began to run, I heard the flight attendant say over the intercom, “Hold Flight ####. We’ve got a runner.” I ran as hard as I could and was profusely sweating by the time I saw the flight attendant waiting for me. I began to slow down but she started yelling and waving at me to keep running. I ran all the way onto the plane where I was met with a full plane of people cheering. It was seriously like a scene out of a movie! I both laughed and cried as I walked down the aisle to their applause. I found out from the woman sitting next to me that, apparently, the captain had announced my predicament and asked if they were willing to wait, and they all agreed. Because I made that flight, Andrew and I got to celebrate our first Valentine’s Day together, which was when I decided to finally make our relationship public after being known as a widow for the last 2 years. One year and two days later, I’m driving home from KC for a late Valentines Day with Andrew, my now Husband. I am forever thankful for all those people willing to wait on the plane. They truly had no idea just how important that date was going to be...♥️

“Why would you do that?! Aren’t you nervous?” I asked as he sent the email. “Why would I be nervous? Because they might not respond or tell me no?” Craig responded. . My late husband, Craig, taught me many lessons, but one of the most impactful ones I can remember was this: “Fear of rejection is simply not an excuse for not pursuing your God-given calling.” ♥️ It’s amazing how much can change when we choose to we live this way. Just the other day a close friend of mine reminded me of a conversation we had a little over a year ago. I told her about the conversation I had with Craig and the wisdom he had shared with me. We then made a promise that in the upcoming year we would commit to our dreams, release our fear of the word “no”, and stop letting what people might think if we DID fail dictate our actions. One year later, the text from my friend read, “Wow, Helen. Look how different our lives are and how far we’ve come. I’m so proud of us.” And I couldn’t agree more. . Today, may we never live with a spirit of fear, but with a spirit of confidence. May we never let the fear of what others might think hinder us from going where our God calls us. And may we always remember that it’s not their opinions but His that forever dictates the path before us. 🌿 Praying for you today and always...Love in Christ, Friends. ✨ | Ps. Your Best New Self IG Live Bible Study is back on for tomorrow (Wednesday) at 12pm cst!
